A geothermal system has two halves — the heat pump indoors and the loop in the ground. Most people are told it is the expensive one. We find out which it actually is.
The unit runs but the house does not get there. Could be refrigerant, the reversing valve, a failed compressor stage, or flow through the loop.

It depends on whether the fault is in the heat pump or the loop, and which part has failed. You get an upfront price before any work starts, and you approve it first.
Almost always, yes. Aux heat is electric backup and it is expensive to run. If it is carrying the load in normal weather, the heat pump is not doing its job and that is worth diagnosing.

That is the first thing we establish, and it matters enormously — they are very different repairs. We check flow and pressure through the loop as well as the heat pump itself.
